Sawmill DGC is an outstanding 24 hole course located just east of Ocala in Silver Springs, FL. Build on an underutilized county park that at one point had some nice walking trails but had long since been overtaken by the Florida ecosystem, Sawmill DGC has breathed new life into the park and revitalized this hidden gem of a property, by turning the park into a fully dedicated disc golf course! This property also serves as an overflow pumping station for the Silver River across SR40. Several times a year, water from the Silver River is pumped into the huge DRA areas in the park creating a temporary lake. During those days, "Lake Sawmill" is created offering some unique and challenges and shots over water that is normally dry land 95% of the year. "Lake Sawmill" will often drain dry in a few hours to a couple of days as the water quickly recedes into the lime rock below. Established in 2016 as an 11 hole course, Sawmill DGC has been fully funded and operated by the local disc golf community. ALL course upgrades, course design, upkeep, and expansions have been made by local disc golfers, donations, and volunteers! Within the first few years, Sawmill was expanded to 20 holes with permanent turf tee pads installed for all the long tees. And in 2021, 4 more holes were added and the course was expanded to 24 holes! Sawmill offers an amazing use of the natural Florida landscape with its mature Oaks and towering Pines. Woven through the beautiful palm trees and palmetto bushes that flourish in this area, Sawmill grants the player an opportunity to step back in time into the "Old Florida" woodlands for a fantastic disc golf experience! New players and seasoned Pros will have opportunities to score low and also to be intensely challenged by the amazing course design! As the course flows from tight wooded fairways to open bomber shots and technical doglegs, players will have a chance to use every disc and shot in their arsenal as they take on this fantastic course!
