About the course
Moderately hilly Heavily wooded Signature HOLE 19 has a Spring but mostly dry creek Tight wooded course with 3 sets of tees. Excellent elevation changes, tight fairways, and hardwoods make a tough combination. Some holes (5, 9, 12, 17) have a second permanent basket for the long layout. Alt basket positions on 7, 9, and 14. Even months = original position. Odd months = alt position. Additional four holes, 19-22, are to the right of the 18th basket. As you enter the park the first parking lot on the left is where hole 22 filters out of the woods.

If the tee pads were upgraded to larger than 3’x7.5’ and baskets replaced, Valley Springs would be one of the best courses in the Triangle. Until then, it’s mostly to be avoided purely because of the terrible tee pads.

Updated review: Such a shame Durham Parks & Rec doesn’t care about the course. Very solid course design, especially for its age. Widening the tee pads by 2 feet would make all the difference in this course. You’d have way more traffic, because most people avoid this course due to the pitiful teepads.
